For the 26th year, team members from Autobell Car Wash pulled on rubber boots and hit the banks of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway to remove trash and debris from the waterway section that the chain first adopted in 2000.
The annual creek cleanup is part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Adopt-A-Stream program. This year, 22 team members representing six local stores and the home office spent several hours working the company’s stretch of creek. The crew hauled out nearly 400 pounds of trash, with notable finds including fluorescent lights, outdoor metal chairs, and large, broken metal pipes.
“Twenty-six years in, this event still energizes our team,” said Autobell CEO and owner Chuck Howard. “There’s something powerful about rolling up your sleeves alongside your colleagues to do something that’s genuinely good for the community, and this creek that runs right through the heart of Charlotte. We’re proud to keep showing up, year after year.”
Waterway cleanups are just one way Autobell backs up its commitment to environmental stewardship. Across all locations, the company treats 100 percent of its wash water and recycles up to 100 percent through innovative, environmentally friendly systems, along with other on-site water conservation procedures.
