ERIE BRUSH’S DAN PECORA HAS DIED

04/30/20

Dan Pecora, owner of Erie Brush & Manufacturing Corp, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020. He was a resident of Palatine, IL.

Daniel P. Pecora was born October 23, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI. He started his career in the car wash business managing his father’s car wash in Appleton, WI, one of the first exterior-only washes in North America. The International Carwash Association honored his lifelong dedication to the industry by inducting him into the ICA Car Wash Hall of Fame on April 22, 2020.

In announcing this high honor, the industry’s highest, the ICA recalled Pecora’s career path: Pecora bought Erie Brush in 1970 and grew it from a two-man operation to a thriving 40-person operation. His experience developing and running exterior washes drove him to create products that solved real challenges for operators. Under Pecora’s leadership, Erie developed unique brushes for a variety of applications, which led him to several patents in the industry.

Pecora won the ICA President’s Award in 1987 and the Distinguished Service Award in 1988, as well as numerous other awards from regional car wash organizations. He has served as president of the Chicagoland Carwash Association.

Ken Littrell, ICA president, described Pecora as a true industry pioneer who dedicated his life to the car wash industry.

Pecora is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter Laura and son Robert; eight grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
