Northville, MI-based Belanger, Inc. has announced the appointment of Wash Plus, Inc. as the full-line Belanger Stakeholder Distributor for southern Florida. Wash Plus has been selling, installing, and servicing car wash equipment for over 20 years, and is now the exclusive Belanger distributor in its territory.

Autobell Car Wash Inc., based in Charlotte, NC, recently awarded 34 employees its 2007 academic scholarships toward the college or university of their choice. This year’s gifts totaled $30,200. Since its inception, the Autobell Scholarship Program has awarded over $106,000 in academic funds to employees.
The annual scholarship program is open to current Autobell employees of at least one year standing. Employees who are graduating high school seniors or have received a high school diploma within the past three years can complete and submit the short application, along with references, an acceptance letter from an accredited college or university, and a 500-word essay. The Autobell Selection Committee reviews all applications and chooses the scholarship recipients.
Autobell, the second largest full-service car wash chain in the nation, has 47 car washes in 23 North Carolina, one South Carolina, and four Virginia cities.
D & S EXPANDS DISTRIBUTION
St. Louis, MO-based D & S Car Wash Equipment Company recently expanded its distribution network with the addition of new distributors in Oregon, California, Texas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
New distributors in the western states include Jones Car Wash Systems of Portland, OR and West Coast Wash Systems for the northern Los Angeles, CA market. In Texas, D & S has added AutoBrite Company of San Antonio for southern Texas, and Scotch Plaid, Inc. will cover the Dallas market. In the Midwest region, D & S has added AACE Wash Systems, LLC of Nebraska; Mid America Car Wash
Systems and Sather Electric Car Wash Services of Minnesota; and Rae-Cor Distributing of Wisconsin. In the Southwest, D & S brought on board Cherokee Car Wash Properties in Oklahoma. D & S also added distributors Wash-N-Shine in the Southeast region and C & S Car Wash

The 18th Annual Northeast Regional Carwash Convention (NRCC), is returning to the Borgata in Atlantic City October 15-17 for what is slated to be another spectacular show, according to Dan Petrelle, this year’s co-chairperson, and the president of the Connecticut Carwash Association (CCA), the 2007 host association.
The CCA has decided to bring back JoAnna Brandi, of JoAnna Brandi & Company, who keynoted the show in 2005. This year, she will address conferees on “Dealing with Tough Times.” Brandi will also be doing a breakout session titled “How to Create a More Magnetic and Positive Culture.” The material she presents in this session can be implemented in daily work at the wash to motivate staff.
The welcoming reception takes place October 15 at Luke Palladino’s restaurant Specchio, just upstairs from Ombra. The restaurant is closed to the public that evening, lending itself to an intimate venue to catch up with friends and acquaintances. In addition, the well-received Early Bird Sessions will be back as will be educational programs for new and seasoned operators alike.

D & S SALES MEETING
D & S Car Wash Equipment Company held its third annual National Sales Meeting and Vendor Expo on Wednesday June 20th, 2007 at the High Ridge plant near St. Louis, MO. Distributors from across the country attended the event, which covered sales and service topics on D & S in-bay automatics and equipment.
The company provided distributors with a hands-on opportunity to discover its new Quicksilver touch free automatic car wash system and learn of the advancements in technology and controls. D & S engineers and developers demonstrated the new unit and discussed the technological and innovative features of the system. Distributors also learned about the D & S Net, the latest concept in car wash control and automation.
In addition to the sales meeting, distributors were able to meet with select partner suppliers of the company during the afternoon vendor expo, held outdoors on the parking lot of the factory. The vendor expo featured more than 20 car wash industry suppliers of chemicals, water treatment/reclamation systems, bill changers, coin mechanisms and timers, hydraulics, and dryers. The day concluded with a western style barbecue, prizes and awards presentation.
MARK VII DISTRIBUTORS
Mark VII Equipment Inc. of Arvada, CO, the U.S. subsidiary of WashTec AG of Germany, has acquired the assets of Aqua-Pro Car Wash Systems, the distributor of Mark VII products in the state of Texas (excluding El Paso). Based in the Dallas area, Aqua-Pro has sales and service personnel located throughout Texas. The new subsidiary will continue to operate under the Aqua-Pro name and will be managed by Mark VII veteran Sandy Bass, who will relocate to Dallas to assume the role of vice president and general manager. Former owner Johnna Boyd will remain with the organization to ensure a smooth transition and work on special projects for Mark VII.
Mark VII also announced the signing of SourceONE as its distributor for the state of Arkansas. Based in Fort Smith, SourceONE is a full service car wash company engaged in the development, construction, consulting, management, marketing, distribution, sales and service of car wash equipment and supplies.
UPDATED “BE CAR CARE AWARE” KITS
Newly updated “Be Car Care Aware” point-of-sale kits, which include a copy of the new Car Care Guide and a pack of 25 vehicle inspection forms, are available now in time for Fall Car Care Month in October. The kits can be ordered at www.carcare.org.
The kits also contain “Be Car Care Aware” signage, the “How to Host Vehicle Check-Up Events” CD/DVD, consumer education materials, and the Car Care Council’s comprehensive Service Interval Schedule. Inland Real Estate Sales, Inc., part of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc. of Oak Brook, IL, recently brokered the sale of a self-serve car wash located in Elmhurst, IL for $950,000. In recent years, the companies in the Inland group have sold 15 car washes for more than $8.58 million.
The car wash is the only self-serve car wash in the City of Elmhurst and is located at 828 N. York Rd. in the commercial corridor of North Elmhurst. It houses seven car bays and one truck bay totaling 3,148 square feet. It is the fifth car wash Scott Schiave, senior commercial sales person of Inland Real Estate Sales, has recently sold.
