Joseph P. Serio has been named president and chief operating officer of Butler Capital Corporation, the national business-lending firm. Originally hired as controller, Serio was promoted to vice president and chief financial officer in 1998, adding credit operations to his responsibilities. In mid-2001, he was named executive vice president, and he became chief operating officer in 2005. Butler Capital provides fixed-rate loans and leases to car wash owners/operators, startups, and investors. Butler offers funding for business acquisitions, equipment, construction, remodeling, and rebranding. Its Car Care Finance Division maintains a website at www.ButlerCarCare.com.

MISTER CAR WASH PARTNERS

Mister Car Wash (www.mistercar wash.com) has announced that it entered into an agreement to be acquired by ONCAP in partnership with the senior management team. The transaction was expected to close in early April. ONCAP is a leading mid-market private equity firm based in Toronto that was established in 1999 by Onex Corporation (TSX: OCX), one of Canada’s largest corporations, with global operations in service, manufacturing, and technology industries.

The Mister Car Wash Board had determined that partnering with ONCAP represented a compelling opportunity that was in the best interest of the company’s shareholders, customers and employees, according to Mister Car Wash chairman, Cabot Brown. Mister Car Wash operates 39 car washes, 11 lube shops, and two convenience stores in eight regional markets throughout the western United States. The company is headquartered in Tucson, AZ and has over 1,500 employees.

COOLING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

CAR CARE COUNCIL HAS REACH

The Car Care Council (www.carcare.org) has received five top national media awards from North American Precis Syndicate, Inc. (NAPS) for creating consumer feature articles and a radio news release that received an extraordinarily high volume of placements by America’s newspaper editors and radio broadcasters.

“This recognition demonstrates that the Car Care Council is delivering the vehicle maintenance information that newspapers and radio stations want to relay to their audiences,” said Rich White, the council’s executive director.

The article “Proper Washing and Waxing Add Value to Vehicle” generated 1,400 newspaper placements, “The Road to a Long Lasting Automobile” generated 1,260 newspaper placements, “The True Culprit Behind Car-Battery Trouble” generated 1,132 placements and “Now is the Time to Check Your Wiper Blades” generated 1,100 newspaper placements. By comparison, feature articles distributed by NAPS generate, on average, 100 to 400 placements.

BUD ABRAHAM HONORED

At the recent Mobile Tech Expo held in Clearwater, FL, Kevin Halewood, organizer of the expo, presented Bud Abraham, president of Detail Plus Car Appearance Systems, with the expo’s Lifetime Achievement Award. “Bud Abraham has contributed more to the advancement of the detail industry than anyone I know,” Halewood said in presenting the award.

D & S ADDS DISTRIBUTORS

St. Louis, MO-based D & S Car Wash Equipment Company (www.dscarwash.com) recently added distributors in the West, Midwest and Northeast regions of the US and expanded sales efforts in Canada to include the Toronto, Ontario market.

New distributors in the West include Bennett, Inc. of Bend, OR and Wilson Distributing in Seattle, WA who will provide coverage in the Pacific Northwest along with Powell-Christensen of Richland, WA. In Utah, Intermountain Wash Systems and Rocky Mountain Automotive will handle Utah, Nevada and Idaho. ChemStation of Stockton, CA was also recently appointed for central California including San Jose and San Francisco.

In the Midwest, D & S has added Mid America Carwash in Rush City, MN to cover Minnesota and AACE Carwash of Imperial, NE to handle the state of Nebraska. In the Northeast, Carwash Solutions of Concord, MA was added for New England and in Canada, Carwash Wizard of Toronto will focus on the Ontario Province.
