N/S Wash Systems of Los Angeles has announced the appointment of W. Herschel Kilgore as the company's eastern regional sales manager. He will also be responsible for recruiting and managing the distributor network in the eastern region. Kilgore has extensive knowledge in the car washing industry, with over 25 year's experience. He served as the president of his own general contracting business specializing in the construction of gasoline stations, convenience stores and car washes and owned and operated retail car washes prior to joining the equipment manufacturing industry full time in 1985.

In a separate statement, N/S Wash Systems revealed that it had named Chuck Persekian the new sales manager. He will be responsible for domestic sales in the tunnel and wash systems division, and will handle the oil companies, auto dealerships and convenience store outlets. Persekian will specialize in rollover and tunnel wash systems. A graduate of ITT-Illinois, Persekian also holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and has more than 15 years of experience in the car wash industry.

Wash Plus of Pompano Beach, FL and N/S Wash Systems of Los Angeles have announced the addition of Wade Young to their equipment sales team. Young will be working with existing operators and new investors in the Southeastern United States as well as the Caribbean. Young has over 40 years of experience in the car wash industry. He has managed retail car washes, owned his own equipment distributorship, and most recently was vice president of equipment sales at Sonny's Enterprises Inc.

David Boyce has been appointed business development manager of De Pere, WI-based PDQ Manufacturing's domestic outside sales team. Boyce is based in Oklahoma City, OK and works extensively with PDQ's distribution, helping to identify and develop new market and customer opportunities. He has an extensive background in equipment sales, and previously worked for PDQ distributor Nu Look Car Care, Inc.


Precision Fluid Controls Inc., a new component manufacturer specializing in valves and timers for the car wash industry, recently opened for business in Auburn, CA. Effective immediately, Ryko Manufacturing Company is offering a $5,000 rebate to qualifying customers who trade in their present automatic system on a new car wash system from Ryko.

Cactus Car Wash, a chain of full-service car washes in Atlanta, GA and Charleston, SC, announced plans to offer franchises of its upscale car wash operation.

Atlanta's Creative Loafing newspaper has named Cactus Car Wash "Best Carwash" every year since 1999, and Atlanta Magazine named it "Best Carwash" in 2003. The chain's newest facility, in the exclusive Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, was one of five businesses named "Best of Buckhead" in 2004 by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Buckhead Business Association.

The chain recently adopted a "flex-serve" model, mixing traditional full-service car washing with an exterior-only option. It also offers complete detailing services at each location.

The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) is now accepting applications for its Fast Lube Scholarship Program awards.

The scholarship program is open to part-time and full-time employees of AOCA-member fast-lube facilities who are going to college, community college, or technical school in the fall of 2005. Recipients can earn up to $1,200 per school year toward their education. In the selection process, preference is given to students pursuing a career in the automotive field. Complete eligibility requirements are provided with the application.

Ronald D. King, vice president of manufacturing for Blue-White Industries, passed away in January 2005. King was an important part of Blue-White as a family member, board member, and innovator. He was born in August 1947 in West Los Angeles, CA, the third child of Blue-White founders Ozzie and Frances King.

King's contributions to Blue-White were many and varied. The company was a lifelong career and commitment for him. In recent years, he served as the company's vice president of manufacturing. He was an ace machinist with exceptional math skills.

Ron King is survived by his mother, Frances King, his son Douglas, his sisters Carol Russell, Janet Gledhill, Jeanne Hendrickson, and brother Clyde.
