Clearwater, FL-based Dosatron International Inc. has announced the appointment of Gary Berglund as sales manager for the Pacific Northwest. Berglund will be the Dosatron contact for all of Oregon, Washington, and Northern California. Berglund has several years of experience in chemical sales
and equipment installation, which includes the Dosatron line. He resides outside of Portland in Beaverton, OR.


ExxonMobil has unveiled a new program designed to help independent installers attract more customers and grow their businesses through a unique branding association with Mobil 1. ExxonMobil is teaming with new and existing retail oil change outlets, such as quick lubes, car dealerships, service stations and tire stores, to develop Mobil 1 Lube Express. The oil change centers will feature Mobil-branded products and will be supported by ExxonMobil's aftermarket programs and services for installers.

The first Mobil 1 Lube Express facilities opened in the second quarter of 2003. As part of the program, ExxonMobil will provide installers with a comprehensive plan that includes marketing materials and business support to help with the set up, day-to-day operations, and marketing of their new Mobil 1 Lube Express oil change business.

Aerodry Systems of Broomfield CO has announced that its drying systems along with the sound-reduction technology incorporated into the systems are now patent pending. The technology utilized by the systems reduces sound to levels below required safety standards while enhancing airflow. The sound-reduction technology is contained internally in each system, which eliminates the need for additional space to comply with restrictions. All models also include a lifetime fan warranty.


Employees of Autobell Car Wash, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, conducted their fourth annual creek walk on Little Sugar Creek on June 14. The creek walk is part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department Adopt-A-Stream program where volunteers walk creek beds and banks and collect trash and debris.

Approximately 40 Autobell employees and managers scoured Little Sugar Creek between East Boulevard and Morehead Street for about three hours. They filled three pickup-truck beds with trash that included a huge tractor tire, a mattress, and a lot of the usual trash, like bottles and cans.


On Wednesday, June 18, 2003, an open house was held at Mr. Sudzy Professional Auto Wash Center at 740 Turnpike Street in affluent North Andover, Massachusetts. The event drew car wash operators as far north as Maine and as far south as New Jersey to view their newly-installed Jim Coleman Entry Wizard, Swipe-N-Clean credit card acceptance system, and Water Wizard in-bay automatic; PECO conveyorized Soft 'N' Foamy System; Superior dryers; and Hamilton Manufacturing Gold Line Auto Cashier. The event was hosted by authorized Jim Coleman distributor Previte, who also served as consultants to the owners of Mr. Sudzy.

McFarland, who entered the sweepstakes by logging onto the automotive maintenance service chain's redesigned web site,, to access his vehicle service history, received a $5,000 gift certificate to Best Buy. The sweepstakes, held from November 4, 2002 to January 13, 2003, was designed to encourage customers of VIOC's more than 700 franchise and corporate service centers to visit the new web site.


Magic Wash Inc. of Madison, WI will be opening and operating a new East Side car wash at 4811 Pflaum Road in September. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new car wash was scheduled to take place in June. Owner Dan Foor has owned, operated, and made improvements to the Magic Wash Car Wash at 3206 West Beltline Highway in Middleton since 1997.

The new Pflaum Road car wash will consist of two single story buildings, together measuring 4,300 square feet. One building will contain six self-service bays; the second will house two touchless in-bay automatics.

Seneca Companies of Des Moines, IA, a full-service provider of petroleum storage and dispensing systems, recently announced that it had become the exclusive distributor for Mark VII in Iowa and Nebraska. The car wash distributorship forms the ninth division in the Seneca Companies corporate structure. The Kum & Go convenience store located at 5308 University Avenue in West Des Moines, is Seneca's first car wash installation of Mark VII's new GT-700 series in Iowa.

Scott Brooks, director of sales and marketing, is leading thisdivision while managing day-to-day operations and executing sales and marketing initiatives. Brooks has 15 years of experience in the car wash business.


Irv and Louise Bressler, owners of the Autospa of Wyomissing, PA, were among the representatives of five businesses to receive the Employer Recognition Award from Goodwill Industries Employment Services. The Bresslersaccepted the award during a recent Awards Breakfast in Reading, PA. The Bresslers have hired employees through Goodwill Employment Services, a non-profit, community-based organization offering job readiness and employment services to people with disabilities or other barriers to employment.

In a separate development, the Bressler family announced that they had broken ground for a 1,100-square-feet expansion for additional retail and service space at their Autospa at 2232 State Hill Road. "Our business has tripled over the past several years," said Irv Bressler. "A growing number of customers continue to appreciate the personalized auto detailing that we offer. We realized we couldn't keep pace with our customers' expectations without major capital improvements."
