Care World Expo Review Part II
Water usage and conservation again featured prominently at the
International Carwash Association's recent Car Care World Expo 2003.
In his State of the Industry address, association president Mike
Black pointed out that the ICA's Water Usage Studies had effectively
created a model program that could be used in any geographic area
facing water shortages to ensure that local car wash operators could
stay open for business. To drive this message home, seminars were
presented on subjects such as "How to Prevent a Water Ban,"
"How to Survive a Water Ban," and "Are You Ready
The names of the ICA Scholarship recipients for 2003 were announced
at the Annual Business Meeting and Opening Breakfast. They are:

Kimberly Moyer of Fourth Avenue Car Wash, Columbus, GA
Kari Schreur of Quality Car Wash, Holland, MI
Brooke Spath of Sawyer Gas 'n' Wash, Fremont, NE
Ryan Taylor of Bischoff Car Wash, Bountiful, UT
Mitchell Williams of Autobell Car Wash, Charlotte, NC
Michael Gavelek of Jay Costas Companies in Valparaiso, IN is the
2003 recipient of the Larry Harrell Scholarship Award.
In addition to the leadership awards we reported on in the June
issue of Auto Laundry News, the following awards were presented
at a special luncheon on Friday, May 9.
The Community Leadership Award was presented to Lori Cady
and Pete Mosteller of Mocady Inc. in Delta, CO.
Kirikian Industries LLC of Hamilton Square, NJ received
the Leadership in Innovation Award
For 2004, Car Care World Expo returns to the Las Vegas Convention
Center in Las Vegas, NV.
