The International Carwash Association’s 2010 Car Care World Expo took place May 12-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
The total attendance figure of 5,512 was nearly 16 percent lower than the turnout recorded at last year’s event.
The number of exhibiting companies also slipped a tad — to 305 from 317 in 2009. At 125,050 square feet, total exhibit space showed a 1,000-square-foot increase over the previous year.
The Welcome Celebration closed out day one of the event, offering conferees the opportunity to network with manufacturers, suppliers, and fellow operators in a social setting. In addition, this year for the first time, the get-together featured the State of the Industry address by the association president, Jeff Gheysens.
Several awards were presented at the General Session on May 13.
- Mike Mountz, CEO of Cloister Wash & Lube, was inducted into the Car Wash Hall of Fame — the ICA’s highest honor.
- Jan Van Kessel, president of Kesseltronics, was presented with the Brian Campbell Leadership in Innovation Award.
- Gary Hirsh, president of New Wave Industries, received the Environmental Leadership Award.
Car Care World Expo 2011 will again take place in Las Vegas, but there is a change in venue. The show is scheduled for May 2-4 at the Sands Expo Center. For information, contact the International Carwash Association at (888) ICA-8422, (312) 321-5199, or visit www.carwash.org.
