The current recession has made investing in the car wash business more difficult. The housing slump, slower marginal income growth, and overall job losses have created a challenging development outlook.

Some lenders may view the typical “mom and pop” start-up with greater risk. Loans have become harder to obtain. In addition, retail development has slowed in many suburban areas and merchants are hurting as consumers spend less. As a result, many new car wash investors are less willing to bet on future growth than they were during the boom period.

One way to deal with this is to get a copy of Bob Roman’s new book, How to Start a Carwash Business. This book is a great resource for anyone who is interested in reducing the risk involved with building new or buying an existing car wash.

How to Start a Carwash Business contains 16 chapters and 83 pages devoted to the car wash industry, types of car washes, car wash process, equipment, cost to own, choosing a car wash business model, choosing a location, determining site yield, site planning, feasibility study, car wash design analysis, construction planning, financing, business plan, buying or selling a carwash, and glossary of terms.

How to Start a Carwash Business is available on CD-ROM/PDF format for $49.95. To order call Pati Ferraro at (201) 592-7007 or e-mail
