DETAIL PLUS IN GREECE
Detail Plus Car Appearance Systems (www.detailplus.com) recently announced the appointment of a new distributor in Greece — Super Carwash AE — owned and operated by brothers Tom and John Kokkoris of Athens, Greece.
Super Carwash operates a chain of five full-service car washes throughout the city and also develops and builds automatic car wash operations for others.
“The Kokkoris brothers have a unique opportunity to capture the Greek car wash and detail market because they were born and raised in the US and understand the industries from an American point of view, which is a huge advantage over competitor distributors,” said Bud Abraham, Detail Plus president.
Both Tom and John Kokkoris lived in New York City until they were in their early 20s when their father settled the family in his homeland about 16 years ago.
BP/ARCO’s FIRST GENESIS
Genesis Modular Carwash Building Systems (www.genwash.com) and the BP/Global Alliance have worked hand-in-hand to develop a comprehensive
solution to quickly construct car wash buildings for BP/Arco. Genesis delivered the first BP/Arco building to a site in Victorville, CA on Friday October 6, 2006 after leaving from Conyers, GA a week earlier.
The building traveled across the country on two trucks and arrived in Victorville Thursday night for delivery on Friday. Genesis Modular Carwash Building Systems are designed to minimize on-site exposure and time while turning the investment in a car wash system into a profit center faster. This particular building had special architectural features added to meet the local visual-image requirements of the city of Victorville, and to match the image of the existing convenience store located on the same property. In a matter of only 20 days, the site went from groundbreaking to a fully functional, operating car wash.
LUSTRA MASCOT NAME WINNER
Alfred Berry of Chanhassen, MN provided the winning name for Lustra Professional Car Care Products’ lovable polar bear mascot in the Name the Bear, Win a Mini contest. Berry won the grand prize when the name he submitted — Brighton — was chosen from among 80,000 entries nationwide.
“I’m extremely excited about this,” Berry said, after opting for a cash prize of $10,000, instead of a 2006 BMW Mini Cooper automobile.
An experienced, independent judging panel evaluated name submissions for the contest. The name Brighton won based on its fit with Lustra’s brand personality, its originality, creativity, and overall score. Berry was randomly selected as the grand-prize winner from a pool of 113 entries who also submitted the name Brighton.
More than 80,000 car wash customers from around the country familiar with Lustra’s environmentally-friendly car wash solutions entered the nationwide contest to name the mascot. The contest ran from July through September.
Ten first-prize winners were awarded a year’s worth of Lustra car washes. For more information about Lustra products, the contest, or the winners, visit www.LustraBear.com.
