NEW AOCA TRAINING VIDEO
The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) has announced that its new training video, "Safety is No Accident," is now available. The fast-lube, industry-specific safety training video explains how to avoid the most frequent causes of customer and employee injuries and claims.
Topics covered include: keeping a professional attitude; clothing and safety equipment; guiding a customer or fellow employee into a bay; avoiding slips, falls, and strains; ladder and lifting procedures; high-pressure gun and spray dangers; using the right tool for the job; tire pressure and inspection; battery and radiator hazards; what to do in case of a fire; dangers of horseplay; and drugs and alcohol.

AUTOBELL'S 2005 COUPON CALENDAR
Charlotte, NC-based Autobell Car Wash, the nation's third-largest full-service car wash chain, is once again offering its custom-designed Cartoon/Coupon Calendar for 2005. Introduced last year, the value-added calendar was a hot item with customers, prompting Autobell to produce a new edition. The calendars are available at every Autobell for $6.95 including tax and are also available for purchase at www.autobell.com.
Responding to suggestions from both customers and Autobell managers,
the car wash company made several upgrades to the calendar this year.
The 2005 edition is a 13-month calendar that includes a December 2004
page. There are now two coupons per month totaling over $70 in savings,
including two free car washes. As before, the calendar includes tidbits
educating customers about Autobell attributes such as its water recycling

HAPPY BAYS IN FLORIDA
The first Florida Happy Bays Car Wash is now open at 200 East Lake Mary Blvd in Sanford, just east of Highway 17-92. Happy Bays has six self-serve bays where customers can use credit cards or cash to clean their cars, trucks and boats to the rhythm of music from the '50s. Or they can stay in their vehicles and enjoy a light show in one of the two touchless, automatic bays. They will be surrounded by bubbles, while a disco ball whirls overhead. When they turn their radios to 97.1 FM, a lighted '57 Chevy on one wall and a '65 Mustang on the opposite wall will move to the beat of the 50's songs. All this entertainment as the vehicle is washed for $6 to $8!
WASH HONORS LOCAL HEROES
Foam & Wash Car Washes and the new Oil Change Plus locations in the Hudson Valley continued their annual tradition of raising money to benefit local fire departments during Fire Prevention Week in October. Various local fire companies were stationed at Foam & Wash and Oil Change Plus locations, distributing fire prevention and safety materials.
Todd Baright of Foam & Wash and the new Oil Change Plus said, "We had another year of great success. We were able to donate over $4,200 to fire companies in the Hudson Valley."
Foam & Wash has 14 locations in Dutchess and Orange counties in New York. Operations consist of Foam & Wash Car Washes, Oil Change Plus, Foam & Wash Mobil Gasoline stations, and Foam & Wash Laundromats.
KLEEN-RITE'S FIRST-ANNUAL SEMINAR
Kleen-Rite Corp. held its first-annual "Learn More Earn More" Informational Expo and Training Seminar on Wednesday, November 10th, 2004 at its Columbia, Pennsylvania headquarters. An estimated 250 attendees visited almost 40 vendors, took a tour of Kleen-Rite's facilities and car wash, and attended educational seminars. Vendors included ArmorAll, Big Eagle, Car Freshner, CAT Pumps, Champion, Charlie Buildings, Dema, Disken Systems, Dixmore, Econocraft, Flojet, Fragramatics, General Pump, Giant, GinSan, Glory, Hamel, Hamilton, Hypro, IdealShield, JBS, J.E. Adams, J-KO, Laurel Venders, Medo/RainX, Meguiar's, Mosmatic, National Automotive Chemicals, North American Oil, Paloma, QuickDry, RainTunnel, Rowe, Simoniz, Standard Changer, Trans-Mate, Triad Design and WashGear. A complementary lunch was given, along with door prizes for Kleen-Rite customers.

SARTOR TALKS IN ITALY
The premier edition of Oil&nonoil, the Italian Car Wash & Filling Station Exhibition, took place October 2-4, 2004 at the fairgrounds of Modena in northern Italy, the home of Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini.
The show drew 84 exhibitors and 3,070 visitors. According to the organizers, attendees showed particular interest in the car wash seminars, which featured a Survey of the Italian Market by Philippe Livio of Gipa Italia and a lively presentation titled Car Washing in the USA by Bill Sartor from San Antonio TX, a former president (2002) of the International Carwash Association.
JIM COLEMAN GETS AWARD
Baylor University's Institute for Family Business presented its 15th Annual Texas Family Business of the Year Award for Large Family Business to Jim Coleman Company. Businesses whose families demonstrate a commitment to each other and to business continuity, and who are responsive to the needs of their employees, communities, and the industries were honored in Waco, TX on October 28, 2004. More than 100 businesses across the state were nominated for the contest.

STONER SEGWAY GIVEAWAY
Stoner Inc. of Quarryville, PA chose a Segway Human Transporter as a unique way to promote the company's products. It purchased its first Segway about a year ago and painted it yellow to use for promotions. CAR-FRESHNER GETS "XTREME"
Sport fishing is getting a jolt of "Xtreme" freshness! Car-Freshner Corporation is now a sponsor of Billfishing Xtreme Release League (BXRL), the only TV show dedicated to competitive offshore big game fishing. Car-Freshner is manufacturer of the world-famous "little tree" air fresheners for homes, cars, offices, and boats.
BXRL, which on October 2 began airing on ESPN2 at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, features six teams of fishermen catching fish from 50 to 1,000 pounds and competing for over $600,000 in prize money. All fish caught during the show are tagged and released.
The 2004 tournament schedule will take the show to five exotic locations: Key Largo, FL; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Antigua Barbuda; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
GLAS-WELD TARGETS BALDRIGE AWARD
Bend, OR-based Glas-Weld Systems has announced that it was accepted to participate in a yearlong training workshop for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The Baldrige Award is given by the President of the United States to businesses and to education and health care organizations that apply and are judged to be outstanding in seven areas: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, process management, and business results.
