    Oasis Car Wash Systems of Galena, KS has announced the addition of Mike Cook, production engineer, to its engineering team. Cook brings more than 30 years of manufacturing engineering experience to the company. He studied machine design, production engineering, and computer-aided design at Franklin Technical School, Missouri Southern State College, and Pittsburgh State University. Before joining Oasis, he spent 20 years in the drafting and design and project management departments at Allgeier Martin and Associates, and worked for the last 10 years at Leggett and Platt as a project engineer.


    Castrol North America has signed an agreement with Texas Oil X Change to be a primary supplier of premium lubricants to this Texas-based, independent fast-lube chain.
    Texas Oil X Change presently has seven stores - one two-bay, four three-bays and two four-bays. One location features an automatic car wash and one location offers tire rotations. Another location has a stand alone full-service garage with ASE technicians. The chain offers a full-service 17-point lube, oil and filter change, as well as transmission fluid exchange, differential fluid exchange, cooling system service, air conditioning service, fuel injection cleaning, fuel filters and state emission testing and safety inspections.


    National Service Industries (NYSE: NSI) has announced that its NSI Chemicals Group has entered into a five-year licensing and sales agreement with the Armor All Products Corporation. In terms of the agreement, the NSI Chemicals Group will manufacture a host of car wash products under the Armor All Professional brand name, and Armor All will supply its Armor All Professional Protectant for exclusive sale by NSI's chemicals sales representatives to car washes. In addition, the NSI Chemicals Group will create a dedicated sales force to sell only Armor All branded products.
    According to NSI, market studies indicate that Armor All has 98-percent brand recognition among consumers between the ages of 16 and 54 who maintain their own cars.
    "Through this agreement, the Armor All brand will expand into the $800 million professional car wash market," said Oren Lewin, Armor All's marketing director. NSI's Armor All Professional products will begin reaching car washes around the country as early as August.

    Adesa Corporation, a wholesale vehicle remarketing services company, has
announced its acquisition of the I-44 Auto Auction in Tulsa, OK from founding president, Dub Enlow.
    Located on over 85 acres alongside Interstate 44 in Tulsa, I-44 Auto Auction will be renamed Adesa Tulsa and will be managed by current general manager, Duane Snapp. Adesa Tulsa will offer six fully automated auction lanes, storage for over 3,000 vehicles and a five-bay reconditioning and detail facility.
    Founded in 1987, the I-44 Auto Auction employs 175 people. This acquisition brings the total number of Adesa auctions in North America to 55.


    Xpress Lube of Decatur, IL has been named the winner of Performance Resources, Inc.'s National Award for Excellence in Customer Service for the second quarter of 2001.
    Bill and Sharon Nunn, the owners of the facility, felt that their staff's service should be considered for the Customer Service Superstar program. Customers have described this fast-lube shop as
exceptionally clean with, "dependable quality service at a reasonable price" delivered by a polite and professional staff. One regular customer lives 30 miles from the shop, but plans his oil changes around his visits to the area.
    This Xpress Lube will receive an engraved plaque noting its achievement. Performance Resources will also make a donation to the AOCA Scholarship Fund in its name.

    Bert Oil, LLC, a Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) franchisee, opened its first franchise center at 2399 E. Highland Road in Highland, Mich. The site was acquired from an independent operator and converted to VIOC brand specifications. Bert Oil is owned and operated by former VIOC Senior Project Manager Robert Tamm, a 13-year veteran of the company. Tamm previously managed the development of corporate and franchisee locations. He is the third VIOC employee to avail himself of the company's Employee Franchise Program, which provides for fee-free franchise licenses and 100-percent financing for qualified employees joining the franchise system.
    Wilmington, NC-based Coastal Lube, LLC recently opened its first service center in New Bern, NC. Operator Norm "Skip" Smith is a former executive vice president in the banking industry. He has obtained a franchise license to open a second service center through Coastal Lube. Through a separate company, Coastal Oil & Lube, Inc., he earlier opened a VIOC location in Wilmington, NC.
    VIOC franchisee Henley Enterprises, Inc., based in Wellesley, MA, has opened its 20th and 21st locations in Concord and in Laconia, NH and a 22nd location in Salisbury, MA.
    Chicagoland Lube I, LP opened eight VIOC franchise service centers in Kenosha, WI, and Aurora, Crystal Lake, DeKalb, Loves Park, Lyons, Roscoe, and Round Lake Beach, IL, in the first three months of this year. The company has obtained franchise licenses to open three additional locations.
    The VIOC system now includes 290 franchise units, approximately 45 percent of its total 658 locations.


    Crane Environmental of Venice, FL and Trooper, PA recently delivered a DELTA-250SW desalination system to Polymers International in Freeport,
Bahamas. This state-of-the-art water purification system will desalinate seawater for use in the manufacturing process of a polymer material that is necessary for the production of plastic foam products worldwide.
    This system has an extraordinary recovery rate of 55 percent and a unique RO (reverse osmosis) and mechanical design. The system is skid-mounted, facilitating installation.
    For Polymers International, the use of municipal water has been eliminated by the system, which draws raw water from a seawater well. The water now being used plant-wide is also higher in quality than water previously supplied by the city, which decreases the impact on plant equipment thereby reducing maintenance costs.


   Gold Eagle Co. has purchased the AlumAseal brand of radiator sealers and began shipping AlumAseal products in June. The acquisition of AlumAseal adds to Gold Eagle's position as a marketer of engine related additives. AlumAseal complements the company's extensive sealer line, which includes NOLEAK(r) Premium Sealers and Gold Eagle Leak Stoppers.
    Other Gold Eagle brands include STA-BIL(r) Fuel Stabilizer, HEET(r) Gas-Line Antifreeze, and 104+ Octane Boost(r).
