CAR CARE GUIDE WINS AWARD

The International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA) has recognized the Car Care Council for creative excellence in communications from among 7,000 entries around the world in its 15th Annual Communicator Awards competition. The Car Care Council won the highest “Award of Excellence” in the consumer awareness brochure category for its Car Care Guide.

The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. The annual competition honors the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations, and identity work for print, video, interactive, and audio.

The Car Care Guide was designed with two purposes in mind: one to promote and provide information to motorists through the consumer media and the website; two, to respond to requests from service/repair shop owners and parts store counterpersons for credible third-party vehicle maintenance information for use at the point-of-sale with customers.

The Car Care Guide uses easy-to-understand everyday language, instead of technical automotive jargon, and fits easily in a glove box. For a copy of the council’s Car Care Guide or for more information, visit www.carcare.org.

NEW DOG WASHES

24/7 Dog Wash opened for business June 13, 2009 at 150 Roland Road, Monroe, LA. The wash uses the Australian made K9000 Self Service Dog Wash that allows dog owners to wash their pets in a fun, safe, effective, and affordable way while getting dogs clean at a fraction of what groomers charge.

For $10, dogs can be washed, rinsed, disinfected, and dried in a matter of minutes. Last year, pet owners spent $41 billion dollars on their pets. It’s one of the fastest growing industries in the United States.

In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Edmonton Humane Society became the first Humane Society in North America to use the K9000 Self Service Dog Wash. The wash opened its doors at the end of May at the new Chappelle Centre for Animal Care in Edmonton. “This is a way to help animals since the proceeds support the shelter animals.” said Stephanie McDonald, executive director of Edmonton Humane Society.

IT’S OFFICIAL

The Contra Costa Water District is offering tips on using water wisely while drought conditions persist in California. The CCWD has joined forces with several local “Smart Wash Car Washes” that reclaim water. The District’s website lists the Smart Wash Car Washes and allows consumers to print discount coupons at www.ccwater.com/conserve/CarWashes.asp.

The website promotes professional car washing by comparing the 100-plus gallons of water used to wash a car at home to the less than 30 gallons required by a car wash that reclaims.
