DRB Systems Inc. has entered into an agreement with National Ticket Company of Paxinos, PA to provide bar-coded ticket books for use with DRB's SiteWatch cash register system. The new tickets include an innovative individual ticket control feature that increases the car wash operator's level of control over prepaid wash book promotions.

Each individual ticket in a wash book will be permanently deactivated once it has been redeemed. This greatly reduces the risk of fraud or abuse by making it impossible for anyone to reuse or resell a ticket. The new tickets also use the latest technology to reduce the risk of barcodes being copied. Another control feature of SiteWatch is that the computer will not energize a ticket book until it's been scanned into the system as part of a prepaid sale. This removes any value from unpaid books, so car wash operators do not have to worry about tickets being lost, stolen, or abused.

A jury in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas Marshall Division recently awarded Katy, TX-based Imonex $10.35 million in the first of two patent-infringement cases involving vending machine coin acceptor technology.

The jury found the acceptors manufactured by Munzprufer of Germany and used in coin-operated washers and dryers made and sold by Alliance Laundry Systems (Speed Queen) Maytag, American Dryer, and the Dexter Co. were in violation of the Imonex patented system. Imonex's acceptors are commonly used in soda and snack-food vending machines, payphones, jukeboxes, car washes, etc.

A second infringement suit, this one against Greenwald Industries, is currently pending.
