The 22nd Annual Northeast Regional Carwash Convention (NRCC) takes place at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. This year’s event is hosted by the New England Carwash Association and runs from Monday, October 3 through Wednesday, October 5.
The location of this year’s show marks a return to the 2010 venue. Last year’s move to the Taj Mahal — after seven years at the Borgata — proved a winner for the convention, resulting in the best NRCC in its 21-year history. With 251 exhibits, the event set a new record and generated the best attendee turnout in five years. The organizers attributed this success, in part, to providing attendees with a more cost-effective venue, more dining options, and greater ease in getting around. The 2011 show promises to equal or surpass last year’s impressive results.
The International Detailers Association has joined forces with the NRCC in offering a daylong program of four
seminars revolving around technical and marketing applications and titled “IDA University Presents.” The presentation will be repeated at the Western Carwash Association Convention and Trade Show in San Diego, October 17-19. Following the IDA, CarWash College will show attendees how to “Market Your Wash Like a Pro.”
“Sudden Unintended Acceleration,” arguably the most important issue on the educational agenda, is the subject
of Tuesday’s presentation. The extreme dangers associated with this unfortunate — and often tragic — phenomenon will be discussed as well as methods to mitigate the chances of an occurrence at a wash. The ever-popular Early Bird Discussion sessions take place on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
The keynote speaker on Tuesday is Joe Bastardi, the former chief long-range forecaster at Accuweather. In a presentation titled “Weather of Not?” Mr. Bastardi will shed light on some of the mysteries of meteorology. This is subject matter with which every operator would like to be better acquainted.
