The 26th annual Northeast Regional Carwash Convention was held October 5-7 at its traditional New Jersey shore locale, albeit with a new address. For the first time in many years the NRCC ventured out of the friendly confines of the Trump Taj Mahal and moved into its new home in the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The ever-expanding event simply outgrew its old venue, and with more elbowroom exhibitor and attendee numbers were on the rise. The event set a new record with 301 exhibits and drew in over 1,600 attendees. The larger show floor was open for two days during the event for a total of nine hours.

Car washers were treated to a packed educational agenda that kicked off on Monday, October 5, with programming for tunnel and self-serve operators. The topics of PCI and EMV compliance were covered on Tuesday, as was security at the wash and a keynote address by the Maryland director of development for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, John Rodenhausen, who spoke on the bay’s impact from New York State to Virginia. He was also awarded this year’s Most Distinguished Person award by show chairman, David DuGoff, on behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Carwash Association, this year’s host.

At Tuesday’s annual luncheon and awards presentation Walt Hartl of Hoffman Car Wash in Albany, NY, a long-time NRCC board member, current New York State Car Wash Association president, and two-time NRCC chairman was inducted into the NRCC Hall of Fame.
