2015 Northeast Regional Carwash Convention

09/01/15

For 2015, The Northeast Regional Carwash Convention (NRCC) is moving its annual event to the Atlantic City Convention Center — the result of outgrowing exhibiting facilities at The Borgata and subsequently the Taj Mahal, where scheduling the meeting was further complicated, at the time, by the hotel’s uncertain financial future. Hosting this year is the Mid-Atlantic Carwash Association; the other participating associations are the New York State Car Wash Association, Car Wash Operators of New Jersey, Connecticut Carwash Association, and New England Car Wash Association. The event runs from Monday, October 5 through Wednesday, October 7.

A panel discussion covering self-service washes and in-bay automatics gets the educational program started on Monday afternoon, while Autobell’s Pedro Briceno shares his expertise in hiring and training the right people with conveyor wash operators.

The ever-popular Early Bird Panel Discussion takes place on Tuesday morning. Panelists, car wash veterans all, stand ready to answer any and all car wash questions from the floor. Next up, conventioneers can gain valuable information about PCI compliance, and arm themselves for the credit card liability shift coming in October, a consequence of the introduction of EMV cards, also known as chip cards. Continuing the self-preservation theme, a presentation on traditional and “new age” ways to steal will offer attendees prevention advice.

John Rodenhausen, Maryland director of development for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, is the keynote speaker for the event with a presentation titled, “We All Benefit From Clean Water.” He offers a unique perspective as a veteran of the CBF’s conservation programs to discuss the state of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and the economic value of its resources. The awards presentation follows and takes place during the luncheon that immediately precedes the opening of the exhibit floor.

The welcome reception on Tuesday evening takes place at 28 West, a piano and cocktail bar conveniently located at The Borgata, the host hotel for the convention.

In addition to four hours of exhibit time, the final day offers two seminars. First, Paul Fazio, president of Sonny’s Enterprises Inc. speaks on “The Future of Car Washing.” Closing out the educational program, Chris Brown, a principal with Myrrh Consulting, addresses “Balancing Great Service and Sales to Maximize Revenue.”
