WCA Convention 2012
Having successfully moved it’s annual show out of Las Vegas last year, The Western Carwash Association returned to the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA for its 31st annual convention and tradeshow. The event ran from Tuesday, September 18 through Thursday, September 20.
An all-day new-investor seminar on Monday, September 17 preceded the official show days. On Tuesday, following a formal presentation on employer challenges, conveyor-track attendees could rotate among a dozen or so roundtables, each set up to cover a different car wash issue. This format was repeated on Wednesday. Self-service education included the ever-popular open forum. Detailers were not forgotten. Through the International Detailing Association a full-day program was on offer to fill their specific needs.
The opening reception on Tuesday evening was held outdoors on a terrace overlooking San Diego Bay. Association business was taken care of, attendees could network with peers, and two awards were presented:
- Ecolab’s Jerry Hoyt was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Barry Graceman, Jerry’s erstwhile business partner, made the presentation.
- Dustin Lessard of The Wave Car Wash in Olympia, WA received the Manager of the Year Award.
Newly renamed “The Western Car Wash Show,” the Western Carwash Association’s 32nd annual convention and tradeshow will return to the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA. The event is scheduled for September 10-12, 2013. For more information, call (800) 344-9274 or (916) 235-4135 or visit www.wcwa.org on the web.
