Vacutech LLC of Centennial, CO has announced the appointment of car wash industry veteran and expert Fred Grauer as executive vice president, new business development. Grauer brings to Vacutech more than 50 years of experience in all aspects of manufacturing, distribution, operations, and comprehensive car wash operations and development. In addition to his duties with Vacutech, Grauer will continue to be involved in his consulting business and a full-service car wash. He will also maintain his affiliation with Micrologic Associates, a provider of car wash controllers and RFID and POS systems.

Barrie, Ontario-based MacNeil Wash Systems Limited has announced that Sue Chappel has joined its sales team as marketing coordinator. Chappel has over 15 years of experience in the fields of sales, advertising, and marketing in both the business-to-business and consumer markets. She has worked as a media buyer and planner, a retail-advertising manager, and a sales administrator and representative.

Unitec Electronics of Elkridge, MD, a manufacturer of car wash entry and payment systems, has announced the appointment of Andrew “Drew” Ryan as director of sales. Ryan previously held various sales and business development positions in manufacturing, metals, and software industries. He has launched product and service sales initiatives in private, start-up, and Fortune 500 companies. Ryan is a graduate of Lycoming College and is currently attending Hood College in Frederick, MD to earn his MBA degree.

Mark Giroux has joined Coin Acceptors Inc. (Coinco) of St. Louis, MO as national sales director for both Coinco and Royal Vendors, effective immediately. Giroux holds a BA degree from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and a Masters degree in Political Science from Wayne State University. He has a wealth of sales and management experience including responsibility for major accounts such as Coca-Cola, 7-Up, Pepsi-Cola, and Anheuser Busch.

Most recently, Giroux was regional sales manager for NuCO2, a provider of CO2 gas to the foodservice industry.
In a separate statement, Coinco announced the promotion of Ron Hoormann to senior vice president of engineering.

Hoormann has been with Coinco for over 30 years and holds a BSEE degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla and an MBA degree from Lindenwood University. He has worked in several key engineering and engineering management positions within the company. Most recently, he spearheaded the development of the new Guardian XL changer and Arrow cashless and telemetry products.


DETAIL PLUS Car Appearance Systems ( recently commissioned its first semi-automatic hand
car wash and detail center in Istanbul, Turkey. The ultra-modern center, owned by Volkan Solmaz, is called Duru Clean and features a 50-foot-long semi-automatic hand wash and four Chemspence-equipped detail bays.
This is the first of many planned Duru Clean centers throughout Istanbul.


Washtech of Earlysville, VA hosted a series of informational and educational seminars for car wash operators in Richmond, VA; Columbia, MD; and Whitehall, PA on March 29, 30, and 31 respectively. Billed as “an afternoon of discovery and socializing with fellow car wash operators,” each event featured progressive manufacturing and supply professionals that provided presentations on various topics relating to their area of expertise. Representatives of Washtech also presented. Following is a list of presenters and their topics at the seminar:
