Car Care World Expo 2011
Car Care World Expo, the International Carwash Association’s annual event, took place May 2-4, 2011 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
Strictly by the numbers, there is little that separates the 2011 show’s performance from last year’s. The total attendance figure of just over 5,500 compares to 5,512 recorded in 2010. The number of exhibiting companies was up from 305 to 308, while exhibit floor space dropped slightly from 125,050 square feet last year to 121,050 square feet for the 2011 event.
The Welcome Celebration provided a fitting end to day one of the event. The social gathering offered conferees the opportunity to network with manufacturers, suppliers, and fellow operators in an informal setting. Several awards were presented at the Welcome Celebration:
- Bob Black, founder of Super Wash Inc., was inducted into the Car Wash Hall of Fame — the ICA’s highest honor.
- Lustra Car Care Products, a division of Cleaning Systems Inc., was presented with the Brian Campbell Leadership in Innovation Award for its Ultraflex chemical delivery system.
- Frank Trilla, owner of Kings Car Wash in Westmont, IL, received the Environmental Leadership Award.
CarWash College announced the winner of its “Extreme Marketing Makeover Contest” during the Expo. Richard and Kimberly DeGennaro, owners of the winning location, DeGennaro’s Car Wash of Greensburg, PA, will receive Car Wash College’s $6,000 Startup/Re-branding Marketing Package that includes design of a new logo, menu, street, and building signage in addition to custom fundraising, loyalty, and gift card programs. Additionally, they will receive a custom-designed SONNY’S Grand Entrance Arch worth $3,000 that will be delivered ready to install.
Car Care World Expo 2012 will again take place at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. The show is scheduled for May 7-9. For information, contact the International Carwash Association at (888) ICA-8422, (312) 321-5199, or visit www.carwash.org.
