Same venue, new name. The International Carwash Association’s annual event returns to the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, NV for 2012. No longer known as Car Care World Expo, the gathering is now tagged with the label: The Car Wash Show™. Despite this change, veteran attendees will find much that is familiar.

As was the case last year, the New Investor Seminar — a whole-day pre-show presentation — takes place on the Sunday (May 6) preceding the official start of the show. Attendees will learn car wash business models, how to develop their business strategy, site selection and development tactics, how to optimally finance their business, and will walk away with the answers to the “top 10 questions every investor wants to know.” The show officially gets under way on Monday, May 7 and runs through Wednesday, May 9.

On Tuesday, May 8, the keynote address will be delivered by Mike Ditka. Coincidentally last year’s keynoter also was a football personality, Joe Theismann. Ditka is a former NFL player and coach and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988. Currently, he is a commentator and analyst for ESPN, a restaurateur, and more. He shares his drive and team-building skills with audiences across the country in his presentation “ACE — Attitude, Character, and Enthusiasm.” Ditka delivers a powerful presentation that highlights the key characteristics people need to achieve their personal professional goals.

While educational sessions were categorized by specific target audiences last year (owners/operators, site managers, and petroleum marketers/c-store operators), they are classed by subject matter at the 2012 show: business management (identified in the schedule below by the letter “B” behind the session title), marketing and brand strategy (“M”), and operations (“O”). At the time that this preview was being prepared, there was no information available regarding the operations seminars. For the latest information, please visit The 25 hours of education are scheduled at times that do not interfere with trade show hours, allowing exhibitors unfettered access to attendees. Organized social activity is limited to one event this year — the welcome celebration, which is being held on the trade show floor on Monday evening and is open to all attendees.
